Fennel seeds have a mild, spicy, anise-like aroma and flavor. They are very tasty with fish, pork, and sausages, in homemade bread, as an extra anise accent in braised fennel, in various Italian dishes, and Indian curries. You also use fennel seeds for pickling, e.g., cucumbers.

The aroma and flavor become even more intense if you briefly toast the seeds in a dry frying pan before use.

Tip: You can also make a delicious herbal tea from fennel seeds, either alone or in combination with other herbs like chamomile, mint, and licorice.
