Cardamom is related to ginger, something you can really taste in its delicately sweet flavour. These intensely aromatic pods are used in a variety of Asian dishes and in stews and chutneys, either whole or just the seeds. Cardamom is also delicious in cakes, in apple pie pastry, in biscuits and desserts and also in Glühwein.

Tip: add some whole cardamom pods to rice during cooking to create a delicious accompaniment to a curry! You can also use a sharp knife to cut open the pod and finely crush the dark seeds inside. This is particularly useful if you want to incorporate cardamom into a dough or batter.
