Beautiful, hand-carved wooden hedgehog from the German brand Holtziger, known for its lifelike wooden animals. The smooth finish and rounded edges make this hedgehog lovely for small children to hold and play with.

Hand-carved wooden animals from Holtziger
In 1996, wood carver Dietmar Botterbrod founded the Holtziger brand, for which he designed and produced a beautiful collection of wooden trees, figures and animals. In 2011, to keep his brand afloat, he transferred it to toy supplier Gollnest & Kiesel.

Holztiger's wooden animals are hand-carved from maple and or beech wood in a workshop in Romania. After planing and sanding, they are hand-painted with non-toxic, water-based paint, semi-transparent so that the beautiful wood grain remains visible. After this, the animals are finished with a water-based matte lacquer. The animals feel wonderfully soft and remain beautiful for a very long time.  

These animals are not only beautiful, but also very fun and educational for children to play with. For this reason, more than 100 Holztiger animals carry the popular 'Spiel gut' label. This indicates that the toy has been tested for play value, material, workmanship, durability and safety, among other things. In addition, the toys are also extensively checked for the presence of harmful substances such as PVC and plasticisers.
